Greenfield – Gerald "Gary" M. Miller, age 81, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born in Carthage, Indiana on October 5, 1940, to Carl and Mary (Andis) Miller. He married Carole Jarrett on October 17, 1964.
He was the owner of Miller Welding and Repair in Arlington, Indiana from 1976-1995. Prior to retiring in 2002, Mr. Miller was a welder for Original Tractor Cab Company in Arlington, Indiana. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Greenfield. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Arlington. Over the years, he was a fence builder, fabricator, and race car builder. He raced the cars he built at Mt. Lawn and Anderson Speedways. He enjoyed watching racing and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a jokester and loved spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Carole (Jarrett) Miller; children John (Michelle) Miller of Shelbyville, and Melissa (Todd) Reynolds of Greenfield; brother David (fiancé Cathie Ream) Miller of Carthage; sister Carolyn "Sis" (Richard) Bonne of Greenfield; grandchildren Thomas and Russell Miller, and Matthew (Brennan) Reynolds, Nicholas (Shelby) Reynolds, and Hannah (Patrick) Holly; and great-grandchildren Bransom Miller and Rory Holly. He was preceded in death by his parents; bother Joseph Miller, and infant sister Mary Ann Miller.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. also at Erlewein with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Todd W. Reynolds will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the First Church of the Nazarene or The American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary. Friends may share a memory or condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.
