Booking a site inspection in Brighton and Hove to confirm that building regulations have been met will now be quicker and easier thanks to the launch of a new App.
The Local Authority Building Control App can be downloaded onto Apple or Android phones and enables a builder or the property owner to request a site visit and receive confirmation the request has been received in just a couple of minutes.
Site visits can also still be booked by phoning or emailing our Building Control team, but will be much quicker through the new App.
Whether you are planning a change to your home that involves building work, or you are running a construction project, the work done must comply with national building regulations. Depending on your project you may require several inspections at different stages of the work.
The responsibility for booking site visits rests with you and your builder.
Chair of the Planning Committee councillor Leo Littman said: “Our Building Control site visits are an essential part to making sure that building work is safe and meets energy efficiency and other standards. They happen at several different stages of each project, and so its not surprising in a busy city like Brighton and Hove that we arrange around 4,000 site inspection visits a year.
“We are continuing to look at how easy-to-use technology can support the swift delivery of our planning and building regulation services for residents, business-owners and developers. By making it far quicker and easier to request a Building Control Surveyor site visit this App will be another element of improving the quality of our service.”
