Maximus Fay Explains how Social Media influenced him to become a entrepreneurial trader
Let’s face it, if you scroll through any sort of social media, you’ll come across someone living their best life, making seven figures off of their media based ventures. This has sparked the wild imaginations of entrepreneurs globally. Maximus Fay, freshly graduated from high school, was in the same boat as these people. What separated Maximus from this group was his passion and consistency. Maximus has only been involved in the space for two years, but in that time, he created a handful of businesses that changed his life forever. We got the opportunity to talk to Maximus about his experiences and opinions.
Jackson Weimer: What inspired you to follow this path at such a young age? Was there a particular event or experience that you felt like really pushed you to start?
Maximus Fay: I used to sit around playing video games or wasting time scrolling aimlessly through different social media platforms when I came across kids my age, or even younger, making tons of money online. I started to watch them more and more and eventually, I got tired of just watching them live the lifestyle I wanted. One day, I decided that nothing bad could come out of me making an attempt to be productive, so I’d say that’s really when the journey started.
Weimer: Do you think that there’s something unique about social media as a place to run a business? Do you see it as a strength or more of something you have to work around?
Fay: Of course. To me, it enables a creator/business to establish an audience and form a community easier than any other medium. It’s also a great source of motivation in general. For me, I see people that inspire me, and because of that, I go out and do stuff that probably inspires someone else. While you have to be extremely careful when using a social media account, especially for a business, it’s a great strength if you know how to maneuver the roads and network.
Weimer: What sparked your interest in becoming an entrepreneur specifically? How would you compare your path to others around you?
Fay: Originally, I was simply just motivated to make money. I quite literally locked myself in my room for eight hours or more a day the entire summer of 2021 in order to master trading options and digital asset futures and derivatives contracts. I emerged with a consistent technical analysis based trading strategy that made me a lot of money in the following months. It was from there that I really became passionate about creating wealth and making that money work for me. I figured I could fulfill that desire by expanding into other income streams. Many of those around me started out as entrepreneurs, but for me, I’d say it only really interested me once I had made my money and wanted to make it create passive income. So for me, my original goal was just to make money, but once I had it, I saw these businesses as the best way to generate that passive income I desired.
Weimer: Could you tell us a little bit more about these businesses? Have there been any ventures that disappointed you?
Fay: Currently I’m working on something I call MCF Enterprise, a company that streamlines the process for business development. Before that, I co-founded Isonomia, a company which will soon be going to its first round of funding. I wouldn’t say any ventures have disappointed me in terms of the idea, but some of the progress has been slower than I anticipated. Unfortunately, that’s something that’s bound to happen, so I just do what I can to work around it.
Weimer: What do you love or hate about being an entrepreneur? How does primarily working on social media affect that?
Fay: For me, I think It’s really motivating that the rewards from being an entrepreneur are merit based— not based on age, a factor out of my control, and institutional education, which is a factor I didn’t care to prioritize. While social media as a whole isn’t the only opportunity that fulfills that criteria, I couldn’t find a space that simultaneously had as much freedom and as much opportunity for business and networking as social media did. I will say though, at first, I had to get used to not working by myself and having other people really count on me. It got stressful at times, but now I feel like I’m stronger with my network. It’s very hard to be successful without working with others when it comes to running a business like that, so I’d say it’s definitely important to have those collaboration skills.
